Basic tests conducted by pediatricians may be able to predict which children will develop type 2 diabetes.
Researchers at Cincinnati's Children Hospital analyzed data from two large pediatric studies. They found common risk factors, screened for during childhood, were linked to an increased risk for type 2 diabetes. Kids with high systolic blood pressure, high blood sugar, and those whose parents had type 2 diabetes were most likely to develop the disease.
