HIDALGO COUNTY, TX (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Tuesday night, President Barack Obama delivered this year's State of the Union address.
He touched on a few topics of particular interest in the Rio Grande Valley, including immigration reform, head start programs and the farm bill.
One of the first to shake the President's hand as he entered the congressional chambers is Representative Henry Cuellar.
"One of the things that he basically told Congress is there are certain achievable goals that we can do," Cuellar said. "And I hope in a bipartisan way we can do some of them, I'm glad that he talked about trade... USA and Mexico everyday there's more than $1.3 billion in trade. He touched upon it very lightly, but i'm glad that he did that because those are areas that will affect us."
Cuellar said Republicans are meeting right now to talk about what they would want in an immigration reform bill.
