EDINBURG, TX (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — The Hidalgo County commissioners voted unanimously this morning to reinstate the La Joya voting poll location.
Nearly every seat at Edinburg City Hall was occupied by La Joya residents. Earlier this month, county commissioners voted to take away the La Joya early voting site, and it was moved to a different spot in Penitas.
This morning's vote means there will now be early voting locations in La Joya and Penitas.
"Well as you see, the community spoke, and I think that's very important because we know that the voters care," said Yvonne Ramon, Hidalgo County Elections Administrator. "We know that Hidalgo County is a community of voters that care, and the way that we show it is with our numbers."
Early voting will begin on Tuesday, February 18 and runs though Friday, February 28.
