Trains that cross the City of Brownsville are causing headaches for drivers that are stuck in traffic when the train blocks the intersections.
Attorney John Shergold, who tried to cross at the intersection of D street and Palm Boulevard, got stuck in traffic for more than a hour. He states that the city ordinance was put into place to prevent such traffic backups near train crossings. Police were called out to the scene, but were unable to do anything to get the train to move to relieve traffic.
Mr. Shergold says in the case of an emergency, first responders would not be able to get to the scene because of the train blocking the crossing and preventing emergency crews to respond.
