HIDALGO COUNTY, TX (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Yesterday, Newscenter 23 reported that Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office deputies were investigating a home invasion that happened in rural Mission.
Today, four adults and one juvenile are in custody facing aggravated robbery charges.
Frank Muniz (25), Jesus De Los Reyes (19), Jose De Los Reyes (21), and Candelario Gomez (19) are all accused of allegedly invading a woman's home with toy rifles and stealing a TV and jewelry.
They were each given a bond set at $250,000.
Sheriff Lupe Treviño says that the suspects were initially after much more than valuable items.
"We believe that the home invaders were actually looking for a human trafficking stash hold. That's what they told us," Treviño stated.
The sheriff says that this home invasion case is an example of a dangerous trend of random homes being targeted. He is urging the public to be extra vigilant and recommends that neighbors keep an eye out for one another.
