EDINBURG, TX (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Patients at the Edinburg Children's Hospital received a special surprise this morning. They spent time with a few Monster Jam truck drivers.
Since most of the young patients can't leave the hospital, Monster Jam wanted to bring the fun to the kids. The drivers signed autographs and helped the kids make "courage necklaces."
The patients also wrote down their fears on a piece of paper that the monster trucks will "crush" during the show.
"Now that I'm a father, I have a three-year-old son and he was a month and a half early, so we were in a children's hospital for a month and a half," said Dustin Brown, Iron Man truck driver. "So it really hits home coming here and seeing all these kids and being able to put a smile on their face just makes my job that much better."
"Hopefully we lifted their spirits a little bit and give them something to be happy about for the day," said Lupe Soza, El Toro Loco truck driver.
Hospital staff says the kids who participated had huge smiles on their faces after visiting with the monster truck drivers.
