SAN JUAN, TX (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — San Juan Police went and arrested a woman while she was in jail for a separate charge.
Lilliana Salgado is facing a felony charge of auto theft that carries with it a $30,000 bond. That's just in San Juan. Salgado was seen on security footage crossing a stolen vehicle into Mexico.
When San Juan detectives asked the media for help, things came full circle in the investigation.
"She was currently being investigated by the McAllen Police Department on other auto related charges," San Juan Police Sgt. Rolando Garcia said. "Once they saw that picture when we put it out in the media they contacted us immediately and say, 'hey, we just arrested her, she's sitting over in County Jail, go pick her up.'"
Salgado asked Judge Ricardo Perez for a lighter bond because she cooperated with investigators.
The judge said he would take it into consideration.
