More than a $250,000 dollars worth of marijuana was seized by U.S. Border Patrol agents near Weslaco.
The agents seized about 962 pounds of the drug on Tuesday when a truck was observed speeding north from the Rio Grande river. When the driver spotted the agents approaching he made a u-turn and headed back towards the river. In his attempt to escape, the smuggler, drove the vehicle into river and swam back into Mexico leaving the marijuana in the truck.
