A group of University of Texas at Brownsville students plan to commemorate the University's agreement with the Department of Homeland Security for a smaller, more friendly, Border Wall.
The U-TB Student Government will be planting hundreds of flowers around the new fence. The wall agreement between the University and DHS was made back in july of 2008.
The fence is built right behind the U-TB baseball field and was completed just before 2009.
The fence is 10 feet high and see-through.
The original agreement the Department of Homeland Security wanted to make with the University was a much bigger fence, close to 18 feet.
U-TB Student Government will plant 300 flowers on Saturday in front to fence to beautify the area.
This event will be at the fence at 9-AM on Saturday students, faculty, and all Valley community members are welcome to attend.
The whole goal is to add color to the barrier.
The Student Government Association says the flowers will be donated by several organizations in Brownsville.
