There was an unusual find along the beach on South Padre Island this weekend.
People walking on the beach called the UTPA Coastal Studies to report about a Pygmy Sperm whale that washed ashore about three miles north of beach access six. The whale measures 10 feet long, which is average for this species, and researchers are assuming the death is from the recent Red Tide in the waters of the Gulf.
