BROWNSVILLE, TX (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Testimony is underway in the murder trial of a Brownsville man accused of killing a 20 year-old Harlingen woman last year.
Aroldo Cadriel, 60, is accused of shooting Brisna Mireles, 20, in the face and back five times. Law enforcement says he then dumped her body in a grassy area off of frontage road in Combes.
On Wednesday, a Texas Ranger took the stand to tell jurors about his first encounter with Cadriel. The Ranger reported Cadriel came in voluntarily to discuss the homicide with police.
The state has a long list of witnesses anticipated to take the stand.
