MISSION, TX (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Charges filed against a Mission priest for allegedly ringing the church bells too loud have been dropped.
Father Roy Snipes of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church was given a Class C misdemeanor last week for violating a noise ordinance. A man who lives nearby the church complained that the church bells were too loud and rang too frequently, so he took Fr. Snipes to court. As of today, however, he is dropping the case.
"We hoped this guy would come around and sure enough he has, at least enough not to accuse me of being a nuisance anymore," said Snipes. "Not a public nuisance anyway, maybe he thinks I'm a private nuisance. I don't know."
Fr. Snipes says he hasn't spoken with the neighbor since he dropped the complaint, but he is relieved that the man decided not to pursue the case.
