Business claims false and malicious Yelp review is hurting their sales. Mike Luery reports.
(KCRA) A family-owned and operated bagel shop in Davis, California is learning about the harsh realities of the Internet after someone posted a false and malicious review on Yelp, the owners said.
Business at The Posh Bagel was cut in half Monday.
"We were supposed to be busy, and no one is coming," said Juan Zurita, a server at the shop.
The store owners blamed a falsified review on Yelp, a business-review site, in which someone claimed the shop had refused to serve military veterans in uniform.
"I was here yesterday, and we did not receive anyone dressed as military or an officer or anything like that," Zurita said.
The Posh Bagel even checked the store's surveillance camera to verify that no one from the military was dishonored or disrespected.
The owners suspect the rumor started when someone, not in uniform, inquired if military discounts were offered. The patron was told "no," then still purchased an item and walked out of the store.
