HARLINGEN, TX (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Harlingen police arrested a man after his common-law wife reported to police he had assaulted her over a Facebook account.
On Monday, November 18th a Harlingen police officer made contact with a woman regarding an assault by her common-law husband at their home located on the 1300 block of South F Street in the early morning hours of that day.
She identified her common-law husband as Saul Morales Ramirez, 30, who had become upset with her about her Facebook page which then led to an argument.
Ramirez was accused of punching her in the face and body as she attempted to call 911 then grabbing her cell phone and breaking it. He then used a knife and forced her to engage in sexual activity then leaving the scene.
Officers were able to locate Ramirez and positively identify him through his tattoos, described by the victim, and a Mexican voter registration card he had been carrying.
Ramirez was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, sexual assault, interference with an emergency call and failing to identify with a bond totaling $235,000 dollars.
