Houston, Texas — This would upset or trouble any parent, their son or daughter coming home from school with writing on their forehead. It's even more troubling to learn that the writing was done by a teacher as a form of punishment, Andy Cerota has more.
Look closely at the picture, notice the mark on this 8 year-old child's forehead. Victor Jimenez says this is what's left after his son's second grade teacher at Houston ISD's Thurgood Marshall Elementary used a marker and wrote what appears to be the letter "B" on his son's forehead.
Jimenez claims it was because he son didn't finish his homework, "For me, he does not have any professionalism or ethics at all. I do not understand how he can continue being a teacher."
Reporter, Andy Cerota, "Jimenez says this was not an isolated incident and claims he was told by the school that several other students have had the same problems with the same teacher."
He says they have also been marked on their arms, he has a list of the kids involved.
Houston ISD isn't denying the claims, in a written statement a District Spokesperson told Local 2, "Administrators launched an investigation and met with the teacher, who confirmed the report. The situation is being handled as a personnel matter and the teacher has been directed to cease the practice."
Stunned parents disagree with the teacher's action Shaunda Hurd, Parent, "There's a different way you can teach them. I hope my child doesn't come home with a mark on their forehead."
Jimenez says he wants to see his 8 year-old son succeed in school and is encouraging his son to get past what happened so he can focus on what's important, his studies.
By sharing his son's story, Jimenez hopes that other parents won't be afraid to speak up if they feel their children are being mistreated at school.
