RIO GRANDE VALLEY, TX (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Veterans Day activities around the Valley.
In McAllen, there will be a dedication of the new "American Spire of Honor." It stands 105 feet tall near the Convention Center made of black granite, ceremonies there are at 11 a.m. on Monday.
Ceremonies are at 4 in the afternoon in Harlingen at the Marine Military Academy's Iwo Jima monument. The celebration includes a big parade.
Nearby, in San Benito, the city holds its parade in the morning at 8:45 a.m. with a ceremony at 9 a.m. at the Veterans War Memorial.
In Brownsville, ceremonies are being held at the traditional time, the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, at the University of Texas at Brownsville, the ceremony includes a 21 gun salute and 60 American flags.
