SAN ANTONIO, TX (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — A mother, accused of injuring her 6 year-old son when she allegedly ripped his scrotum , waived a detention hearing on Monday morning.
That means Jennifer Marie Vargas will remain behind bars until there is a plea deal or trial in the case. As NewsCenter 23 reported last week, prosecutors say Vargas grabbed her son's private area, ripping his scrotum.
Authorities say she allegedly tried to clean the wound with alcohol and used super glue on the injured area before sending him off to bed.
The boy's father arrived at home and found his son crying in his room and rushed him to the hospital where he underwent surgery.
Vargas faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
