Ride operator charged with tampering with machine that malfunctioned and sent five people to the hospital. Dan Scheneman report
(NBC News) An arrest has been made following the ride malfunction that injured five people at the North Carolina State Fair.
Investigators say ride operator Timothy Dwayne Tutterrow tampered with safety devices on The Vortex ride before the incident.
Tutterrow has been charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious bodily injury.
Police say more arrests are possible.
