FALFURRIAS, TX (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — U.S. Border Patrol agents from the RGV Sector seized more than 3,800 pounds of marijuana that was hidden in buckets of frozen mango pulp on Monday.
During an inspection at the Falfurrias checkpoint, a Border Patrol K-9 detected narcotics in a tractor trailer. After further investigation, agents found marijuana hidden in several one-gallon buckets of frozen mango pulp.
Since it was frozen, agents had to wait for the pulp to thaw before they could extract the drugs from the sticky goop. Agents then removed the marijuana, which weighed in at more than 3,800 pounds, with an estimated value of more than $3 million dollars.
Border Patrol agents have seized nearly 7,500 pounds of marijuana since Sunday, totaling an estimated value short of $6 million.
