EDINBURG, TX (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — An Edinburg man accused or sexually assaulting two young girls appeared before a judge this afternoon.
Manuel Angel Samperio, 60, is facing six criminal charges for his alleged sexual abuse of two minors dating back to 2006.
Samperio left for Mexico when he heard about the investigation, but he returned voluntarily on Monday to Laredo. His total bond was set at $800,000.
Police tell Newscenter 23 that the two girls are blood relatives of Samperio and were both under the age of 15 at the time of the offenses.
Samperio is being charged with two counts of continuous sexual assault to a minor, two counts aggravated sexual assault, and two counts prohibited sexual conduct.
