MISSION, TEXAS (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — A Mission teenager is facing the possibility of life in prison after allegedly robbing another teen at gunpoint.
Police say 18-year-old Javier Solis Jr. robbed another teen of an iPhone last week. He threatened the victim with a BB gun that looks similar to a handgun. Police say because the victim feared his life, the crime becomes a first degree aggravated robbery charge.
That carries a sentence of 25 years to life.
"He has a lengthy criminal record, he's been in and out of the system, I don't think that he feels that it's going to be that serious because it's a BB gun. In his mind, it's a BB gun," said Manny Casas of the Mission Police Department.
Bond has been set at $200,000.
