SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, TEXAS (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — At Claytons Beach Bar the fun is already underway for Sand Castle Days.
"This is the 26th annual and I have been involved in all of them as a organizer and or competitor, and this is my favorite time of year, and my friends who are the best sand sculptors in the world come down and play on my beach I feel so lucky."said Sculptor Sandy Feet.
There are a total of 10 sculptors from all the world and South Padre Island including the Amazin’ Walter.
"Oh I love it, I started it 26 years ago we were sitting at the merchants association and somebody goes what are we going to do with the offseason?, and I said I have an idea, and here it is, and 26 years later, it was a good idea." Said Amazin’ Walter.
Jooheng Tan from Singapore flew 30 hours by plane to compete in Sand Castle Days.
"I am doing a dream of a lady, so it will be a striped shape with a lady inside." Said Tan.
Paul Reeves from New Braunfels. He is on vacation and came to South Padre Island for the weekend.
"I think these are fantastic people are very talented I wish I was an artist as good as they are in any format."said Reeves.
Sand Castle Days also has plenty of fun the kids with slides and other fun games.
