EDINBURG, TEXAS (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — State Attorney General Greg Abbott helped establish the cyber crime unit to help investigate crimes where children are lured through the internet.
He talked with staff Thursday at the Estrella's House in Edinburg to see how to better help abuse victims. The gubernatorial candidate learned about programs within the Children's Advocacy Center and its future.
"Right here in Hidalgo County, children who are victimized, by human traffickers who will sexually assault these kids, and they'll have to come into a place like this children's advocacy center to reveal exactly what happened," Abbott said. "We're involved in that process of cracking down on this horrific crime against kids."
The Children's Advocacy Center is a network of 68 centers in the state which help abuse victims.
