HIDALGO CITY, TX (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers, working at the Hidalgo and Anzalduas port of entries seized $2,505,000 worth of cocaine in two separate incidents.
In the first incident on Friday, September 27th officers at the Hidalgo/Reynosa port of entry came into contact with a white Buick Verano driven by a woman from Dale, Texas.
Officers referred her to a secondary inspection and during the examination officers found six packages of alleged cocaine, hidden within the vehicle's battery, weighing over 11 pounds with an estimated street value at $390,000.
In the second incident on Saturday, September 28th officers working the Anzalduas/Reynosa port of entry encountered with a Mexican man who was referred to a secondary inspection.
The officers used a imaging system to scan his vehicle and found 26 packages of alleged cocaine weighing 66 pounds with an estimated street value of $2,115,000 .
