BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Brownsville police have arrested a woman accused of defrauding her employer to pay for her bills.
Rocio Padilla Nunez, 39, has been charged with three counts of forgery, two counts of state jail felony theft and one count of 3rd degree felony theft after defrauding her former employee.
Nunez is accused of forging 107 checks and profiting nearly $60,000 between January 2009 through February 2011. She had plead guilty earlier this year to defrauding the same employer from July 2011 through July 2012 by processing online payments for the business to pay for her personal credit cards.
The victims conducted an audit of the businesses financial records which revealed additional discrepancies.
Warrants were issued for Nunez who turned herself into authorities on Tuesday and her bond is set at $35,000.
