SHARYLAND, TX (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — This week marks the second clash of the week high school football game, this time it's La Joya versus Sharyland battling it out on the field.
Payne Auto Group is choosing a dozen schools in the Valley to receive scholarship checks as part of the City Clash of the week. La Joya and Sharyland were each awarded $1,000 scholarship checks to help provide a bright future for their students.
Sharyland's football team has their sights set on another district title and for the school, their attention is also on the distribution of their scholarship money as Sharyland ISD Superintendent Dr. Virginia Richter stated, "We will probably put some criteria on it, those that are going into TV production or something like that, those that are interested, so that we can help them with their education."
Under the stadium lights, home team La Joya high struck first with an early field goal, but the Rattlers bit back with a 52 yard keeper by the quarterback to claim the lead.
From there, the Coyotes defense couldn't contain their opponents as Sharyland went on to score 41 unanswered points and take the 48-3 win.
