AUSTIN, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — The State of Texas unemployment rate fell to 6.4 percent in the month of August.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 6.4 percent, for the month of August, is lower from the 6.5 percent in July and even lower from last August of 6.8 percent.
The state's unemployment rate remains below the national unemployment rate of 7.3 percent and Texas has added 274,000 jobs from August 2012 to August of this year.
The mining and logging industry expanded in August adding 1,900 jobs and also had the highest annual growth rate of 5.5 percent. In the professional and business services added 2,900 jobs over the month and over 58,000 jobs over the year.
