BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — A couple thousand in Brownsville prepared for work and school without power on Thursday morning.
Almost 2,400 people had no electricity between the hours of 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. in the Valley International Country Club area.
A broken insulator on one of the power lines reportedly caused the outage, the Public Utilities Board was able to restore electricity in about two hours, PUB spokesperson Ryan Greenfield, "It's basically wear and tear or in some cases it might've been slightly damaged in a storm or something. There's really no way to check or know that it's damaged until there's an outage."
PUB says it could pretty much happen anywhere due to the inability to check for that type of problem.
