Washington DC — U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) met with Mexico Ambassador Medina Mora today to discuss the concerns over Mexico’s failure to meet the targets for water deliveries required under the 1944 Treaty, which govern water-sharing of the Rio Grande
Senator Cornyn and Ambassador Mora were joined by Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Representative Filemon Vela (D-TX 34), in Senator Cornyn’s office in Washington DC, and had a productive conversation about the ways our countries can work together.
Senator Cornyn stressed the negative impact that Mexico’s current shortfall has on Texas farmers and small businesses in South Texas, and encouraged the Ambassador to ensure Mexico take effective action to eliminate the uncertainty and meet its obligations to deliver water under the Treaty.
