Melissa, TX — Authorities are investigating a murder in a small bedroom community in Northeastern Texas, the first killing in the City of Melissa in decades.
Police and crime scene investigators converged on a normally quiet street on Tuesday.
Investigators say a 17 year-old boy returned home from school to find his 34 year-old mother dead inside their rented home.
Neighbor Melanie Cranston described what happened after the teen found his mom, "He went in the house like usual, then ran outside. He was on the cell phone. The boy was just pacing back and forth in front of the house. We're just heartbroken for him."
Authorities are not revealing the victim's identity or cause of death, but they have arrested a man who was accused of sexually assaulting her last March.
