Columbus, OH — The Ohio man who confessed to killing a man while driving drunk pleaded not guilty in court on Wednesday.
A lawyer for Matthew Cordle entered the plea on his behalf, the case will now be reassigned to another judge.
In an online video, Cordle admitted that he killed 61 year-old Vincent Canzani in June and promised to plead guilty and take total responsibility for the crime.
Cordle's lawyer says the not guilty plea is standard operating procedure and that his client will plead guilty at a later date.
Cordle is charged with aggravated vehicular homicide and DUI, if convicted, he could face a maximum sentence of 8 and half years in prison.
