HARLINGEN, TX (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — Harlingen police arrest two men wanted on outstanding arrest warrants.
On August 24th Harlingen police were called to the 2500 block of South Parkwood Street in reference to a theft.
The victim stated that several items, a 50" TV, Nintendo WII, a laptop, Blu-ray player and a 37" television, had been taken by his ex-roommate, David Jerome Cameron, 19, and pawned at a local shop.
On Monday, September 9th an officer spotted a silver Dodge Caravan leaving a Stripes store, located on the 700 block of South Commerce Street, and driving down a alleyway at a high rate of speed.
The clerk at the Stripes store stopped the officer informing him that individuals in the Caravan had stolen a 18 pack of beer. The officer pursued and stopped the Caravan at E. Pierce Ave and South 6th Street, the driver, Ricardo Angel Reyes, 26, and passenger, David Jerome Cameron, were arrested for stealing the beer and having outstanding warrants.
Both were transported to the city jail and booked, but Cameron was later taken to the hospital after requesting medical treatment where he escaped from authorities.
On the following day, September 10th, Harlingen's Targeted Response Unit received information that Cameron was in the 1200 block of Little Creek. Officers searched the area and spotted Cameron who attempted to flee on foot, but officers were able to arrest him.
Cameron was charged with two counts of theft, outstanding warrants and evading arrest while Reyes was charged with theft and outstanding warrants.
