Smith County, TX — A massive grassfire in Texas is forcing residents out of their homes. An eight mile stretch is burning along a roadway. All 16 fire crews in Smith County are battling to contain the 350 acre fire.
One resident, who was forced to leave, said the danger was immediately clear. "The fire department said evacuate and I was like what's going on. I walked outside and all I could see was flames" said resident Juanita Williams.
It's unclear how many people have been displaced by the fire. No injuries have been reported. Officials still don't know what started the fire. The sheriff's office is reminding residents that outdoor burning of any kind is banned.
