HIDALGO COUNTY, TEXAS (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — A new roadway designation is expected to make it easier for truckers to move goods into Texas.
Local leaders signed a measure to make a 25-mile roadway into a trucking corridor. The expanse covers the area from the Pharr-Reynosa Bridge to the Anzalduas Bridge in Mission.
Officials say it allows trucks to pass through to their Hidalgo County destinations without submitting to weight restrictions at the border. Instead, a fee will go toward maintaining the roads.
"A lot of people from different parts of the state and even other states and Mexico that are looking to invest within our foreign trade zones and industrial parks and we know that every warehouse that is built, more commerce that we have, it's continuing to create more jobs," said State Rep. Sergio Munoz Jr.
