WESLACO, TEXAS (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — As of August 2013, South Texas College (STC) students attending the Mid-Valley Campus in Weslaco have a new transit option. STC, in partnership with the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council (LRGVDC), Valley Metro and the Weslaco Economic Development Corporation, is proud to introduce the Mid-Valley JagExpress.
The Mid-Valley JagExpress is a free shuttle service that links the cities of Alamo, Donna, Weslaco, Edcouch, Elsa, La Villa and Mercedes, as well as STC. Operated by Valley Metro, this shuttle service is a collaborative effort, consisting of routes 35, 31 and 12, designed to meet the needs of students unable to attend classes due to transportation.
Route 35 provides intercampus travel and free WiFi for students between STC’s Mid-Valley Campus in Weslaco, the Pharr College and Career Teaching Center in Pharr and the Nursing and Allied Health and Technology Campuses in McAllen.
Route 31, an existing Valley Metro route, links the cities of Alamo, Donna, Weslaco, and Mercedes to the STC Mid-Valley Campus.
Route 12 is a demand response route that allows students in the Edcouch-Else area to call and reserve a scheduled pick-up and drop-off time for travel to the STC Mid-Valley Campus.
