HARLINGEN, TX (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — A Bank of America in Harlingen remains closed for the rest of the day after a robbery occurred this afternoon.
Harlingen PD responded to an alarm triggered at the Bank of America off Harrison Avenue shortly after 1 p.m. today.
A male suspect was seen wearing a trench coat and running eastbound from the bank. Agents followed the suspect to a nearby dumpster where he was said to be changing into different clothes.
The man tried to run away again but was apprehended by police and taken into custody. No name or image has been released in regards to the suspect, however he is described as a Hispanic male in his late 40's to early 50's.
No weapon was used in the robbery. Police say the suspect slipped a note to the teller demanding money.
The man is currently in jail and is facing robbery charges.
