McAllen, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — The McAllen, Texas, Air Evac Lifeteam base has been selected as the company’s 2013 Region 5 Community Service Base of the Year. Region 5 consists of 22 Air Evac Lifeteam bases across the state of Texas.
The Community Service Base of the Year Award is presented to the base in the Air Evac Lifeteam system that has shown outstanding community service in its market area.
Pete Wolf, regional director of base operations, said the McAllen base opened in October 2011.
“Opening a new base in an area unfamiliar with Air Evac Lifeteam is a tough job, especially in an area that has known only one air medical provider and its record of service,” Wolf said. “But it can be done successfully when everyone on the team comes together and commits their time and energy to carrying out the plan. Everyone at the base helps on their days off, ensuring our message is heard in the entire Rio Grande Valley."
