Edinburg, TX (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — The Edinburg Fire Department responded to 510 West Monte Cristo at the Edinburg Iron and Metal Facility at 4:07 p.m. for a call regarding the yard and production machinery on fire.
Upon arrival fire fighters found large piles of debris and a separating machine on fire. The machinery is 100 feet long by 50 feet tall. Large diameter supply lines, aerial ladders and hand lines were required to control and extinguish the fire. This took approximately one hour and more than 70-thousand gallons of water were needed to put out the fire.
Edinburg Fire Investigators are currently on scene documenting and have begun the investigation process to determine the cause. Property loss is estimated to be more than 100 thousand dollars on the separating machine.
There were no injuries.
