HIDALGO CITY, TX (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — Custom and Border Protection at the Hidalgo port of entry will be implementing a change to Ready Lane and bicyclists crossing the port of entry.
Effective August 26th, the changes to Ready Lane will coincide with the beginning of the school year having the current west side lane move to the east side of the port of entry.
The Ready Lanes were established to facilitate vehicle traffic with the concept of only accepting travelers with radio frequency identification (RFID)-enabled cards.
The lanes will be opened all week from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. and in order to use the Ready Lane, all adult passengers in the vehicle over the age of 16 must present an approved RFID-enabled travel card.
CBP is also changing the way it processes individuals riding on bicycles, during the hours of 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. by having them use the bus lane. After 10 a.m. bicyclists will have to use the pedestrian lanes requiring them to walk alongside their bike.
