BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — A jury in the 138th state District Court found Laredo resident Abraham Parra today guilty of the murder and aggravated kidnapping of a Brownsville restaurant owner in July 2012 and sentenced him to life in prison without parole.
According to court testimony, Parra, 25, joined a gang of men kidnapping Reyes Bocanegra, 22, at gunpoint from Mariscos Playa Azul. Employees and patrons were tied up during the ordeal. Bocanegra was found shortly after, dead in his vehicle just north of Rancho Viejo.
A jury has found Abraham Parra guilty on two counts of kidnapping and murder charges with the sentencing phase underway.
Parra and eight others are accused in the kidnapping and murder of Reyes Bocanerga in July of last year.
It was July 19th that police say Reyes Bocanegra was kidnapped from a restaurant and then found dead in his SUV several hours later.
