CAMERON COUNTY, TX (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — The Cameron County Regional Mobility Authority is continuing all electric-tolling which will provide an expressway direct linking U.S. 77 and the Port of Brownsville.
FM 511 has been upgraded to a state highway system and is now called SH 550. The project is about ten miles long and so far the cost is at $93 million.
Brownsville will get all electronic toll points on SH 550 bypass to all ports and South Padre Island.
There are three phases of the project, the first was completed in 2011, the second should be done this year and the third is scheduled for completion in 2014.
