BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Brownsville’s oiling their chains and pumping up their tires to prep for the third annual Cyclobia.
It’s the third installment and this year’s theme is “Glow in the Dark.” The City of Brownsville is preparing for today’s Cyclobia event.
“Cyclobia is a celebration of an opportunity to get out of your car and walk, ride, skip, jump and hang out in a family setting in our downtown area,” Brownsville City Commissioner Rose Gowen said.
Several streets in Brownsville are closed from 7 to 10 p.m. so families can get out and move. This Cyclobia will also put an emphasis on biking, since biking for transportation and recreation is such a big part of our community.
“We have earned the distinction of the bicycle capital of the Valley and we’ve done so because of a lot of hard work and collarborative work with our partners, Bike Texas will we be here with free rentals as well.,” Gowen said.
Along with the play in the streets there will be reclovias or stations set-up offering activities for families.
