HARLINGEN, TX (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — Harlingen police arrested five individuals after a roommate of theirs reported to police of being assaulted by all of them.
In the early hours of Friday, August 2nd a Harlingen police officer was flagged down by a man at the 200 block of East Madison Avenue wanting to report of an assault.
The victim stated that during the night and early morning hours his roommates assaulted him after a verbal argument in the apartment and he was not allowed to leave.
Police reported visible injuries to the victim's face, head, and neck and he was transported by EMS to Valley Baptist Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
Officers went to the victim's apartment and questioned the roommates Leticia Zuniga-Aguinaga, 48, Christian Zuniga, 18, Jose Alaniz, 45, Christopher Garcia, 40 and Octavio Barrientos, 23, who were then charged with assault, engaging in organized criminal activity and unlawful restraint.
A search warrant was issued for the apartment and officers found a bag of marijuana and cocaine, belonging to Octavio Barrentos, who was additional charged with possession of a controlled substance.
