BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Mayor Tony Martinez hosted Brownsville's first State of the City luncheon, which turned out to be huge financial success.
The address, hosted back in May, netted about forty-eight thousand dollars ($48,000) in tax-deductible sponsorship revenue for the two-hour event.
It cost approximately thirty-six thousand dollars ($36,000) to plan and coordinate the luncheon.
The city's Finance Department determined that eleven thousand five hundred dollars ($11,500) remain from the sponsorship drive.
City manger Charlie Cabler said this money will be donated to a nonprofit organization, which the city is still deciding on.
