McAllen, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — A Mission man, has been sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to receiving child pornography.
Jose Alaniz-Allen, 23, pled guilty to the charge on January 31, 2013 and was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Micaela Alvarez to nearly 19 years in federal prison.
The charge involved the distribution of images involving child depicted in pornographic positions under the age of five.
The investigation into Alaniz-Allen came to attention after Homeland Security Investigations began Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice to combat sexual exploitation and abuse of children.
HSI was able to locate and identify Alaniz-Allen as a owner of a computer offering to distribute child pornography movies through a peer-to-peer network. A search warrant was issued at his Mission residence where his computer and several external drives were seized.
