EDINBURG, TX (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — U.S. Border Patrol agents confiscated more than $8.4 million in marijuana in multiple seizures within three days.
The biggest bust happened on Tuesday in La Rosita when agents spotted and followed a vehicle loaded with marijuana to a home. Agents arrested four suspected smugglers, seized two vehicles and 2,800 pounds of marijuana.
On Wednesday, agents working the Sarita checkpoint on Highway 77, were alerted by a Border Patrol K-9 of the presence of narcotics in a tractor trailer. Upon inspection agents found more than 1,700 pounds of marijuana hidden in the trailer.
In an unrelated incident, on Thursday at the Sarita checkpoint, agents netted more than 1,800 pounds of marijuana hidden in an 18-wheeler. Additional seizures pushed the total amount of marijuana seized to more than 10,000 pounds.
