HIDALGO COUNTY, TEXAS (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — The Hidalgo County Sheriff's office is looking for a pair of what it calls "dangerous" suspects involved in a fatal drug robbery.
"They're impulsive, they're very young and they don't care, obviously. And that's what worries me," Sheriff Lupe Trevino said of the suspects, Domingo Gonzalez, 19, and Anthony Moralez, 20.
The sheriff said tey were in the car that collided with the shooting victim, Jose Manuel Veraza. When Veraza blocked their way out, the sheriff said they tried to shoot their out.
"The shooting as far as we can tell, was not prompted by any deadly threat," Trevino said. "They shot because they thought that was their best way of getting away."
Investigators don't yet know which of the suspects fired the shot that killed Veraza. Right now, they say there could be as many as five additional suspects in the case.
"We have evidence to believe they escaped with a sizable amount of marijuana," he said. "The exact amount we can't say."
The undetermined large amount doesn't even include the 356 pounds authorities found hidden in the walls of a camper RV.
The sheriff's department said it needs help to find Moralez and Gonzalez.
"Please notify us as soon as possible," Trevino said. "Do not take any action on your own... That's a fatal mistake our victim did and we do not want a repeat."
