6 year old boy accused of attacking police officer, going for his gun; mom doesn't like how police handled him.
A disturbing story from Pittsburgh Police.
They say a 6 year old attacked an officer and even tried to take his gun.
The boy admits he reached for the gun.
But his mother is upset about the way he told her police treated him during Friday's incident.
I tried to take the cop's gun.
6 year old Chalais Ramey told us what he remembers doing on on Straubs Lane in Troy Hill Friday evening.
He says a police officer tried to talk to him about stealing a bike from this backyard.
Pittsburgh Police say after the boy reached for the gun, the officer struggled to break his grip and once he did he put him in the back of a police car.
I was kicking the window and he slammed me and he put the handcuffs on me then he choked me and that's when he put me back in the car.
Police say in between that, the boy latched onto the officer with his teeth and wouldn't let go. Michael Chernosky witnessed the incident.
I didn't see anything out of the ordinary where he got rough, the kid was only so big.
Chalais' mother questions what her son says happened.
I'm not going to make no excuses. It was not right for him to reach for no gun, but it also was not right for a cop to do what he did to my son. He's only 6 years old. He didn't have to do that.
Chalais has some cuts on his face and was checked out at Children's Hospital and Western Psych.
I'm grateful that's all it was, was a bruise. As you can imagine going for an officer's gun you could have resulted in a much more serious physical interaction with that young child.
