BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Custom and Border Protection officers arrested a Brownsville man for attempting to smuggle a minor child at a port of entry.
On Wednesday, July 10, officers at the Gateway International port of entry came into contact with a 37 year-old male, U.S. citizen, and four minor children as passengers in a 2012 Nissan Sentra.
The adult and four children were referred to a secondary inspection where CBP officers discovered that one of the minors, a 6 year-old boy, had no legal documents to enter the country.
The adult was taken into custody on violations of immigration law, the three U.S. citizen minors were handed over to their mother and the undocumented child was placed into the custody of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
