BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Officers arrested a man, accused by a female teen, of attempting to kidnap her at a local park late Saturday evening.
Police officers were approached by a 14 year-old girl, at Gonzalez Park, for help in reporting an attempted kidnapping by a man driving a white van.
A vehicle, with the same description, was observed driving towards the officers and then immediately making a u-turn heading towards Carolina Street.
The investigating officer followed the van and made a traffic stop on the 2900 block of Elena and identified the driver as Jose Alejandro Camero Rivera, 59.
Rivera was asked to step out of the vehicle, which he refused, and had to be forced out to exit the van and then was handcuffed.
He was charged with evading arrest with a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and attempted kidnapping with a bond totaling $57,500.
The case is still open and investigator are not sure if Rivera or the female are related in any manner.
